Boulevard Haus Eva Brcic Christian

When Eva Brcic-Christian opened Café Boulevard back in 1997, the Dayton area was treated to a new sophisticated bistro offering a taste of Europe. The Oregon District establishment replicated her first restaurant just outside of Nuremberg, Germany.
Over the years Café Boulevard became known for its variety of European dishes, lively patios in the summer, and award-winning martini's featured in the Le Monde Lounge.
Like many locally-owned restaurants in the Dayton area, this little bistro has experienced a negative impact due to the current economic climate. It's now time to shake things up a bit. By taking on its German roots that have always been hidden in the background of its existence. Café Boulevard will begin a new awakening as Boulevard Haus.
If you've had the pleasure to know Café Boulevard's owner Eva Christian over the years, you know that she is a strong willed person who doesn't let set backs overcome her. Owner of Miamisburg's Cena Restaurant, she simply sees the opportunity within the obstacle and reinvents the concept.
Eva noticed that Café Boulevard's Weiner Schnitzel was the most popular dish on her bistro menu and realized that Dayton lacked a restaurant solely dedicated to German cuisine. Thus the "Boulevard Haus" was born.
Boulevard Haus will not be your traditional German restaurant that most Americans stereotype as a tourist destination like those that may exist in Munich or Heidelberg. Rather, "lighter fare" German dishes will be offered. Modern staples that are known in Germany.
A variety of vegetarian options will be featured along with seafood, chicken, & beef entrées. Of course you can expect some of the typical hearty "German" cuisine that Americans have grown to love, like Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Currywurst, and cabbage rolls.
The famous Martini's of Café Boulevard will continue to be featured on the bar menu along with new signature varieties. Wine & German Beer, along with seasonal beers served on tab will complement the menu as well.
Why would a German restaurant do well here in the Dayton area? For starters, Dayton has a wealth of German roots. Another thing to consider, our very own Wright Patterson Air Force Base employs personnel from all over the country, many of whom have been stationed in Germany. Not to mention the German owned companies growing in our region, enhancing our local culture.
Café Boulevard's chapter will end on Saturday, November 21st. The property will undertake minor renovations just before Thanksgiving. The new Boulevard Haus will open for dinner on November 28th.
This exciting change to the restaurant scene will surely be the new gem in our area, so be sure to make reservations and get ready to embrace this new offering that only a locally owned restaurant can offer!
